The Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) is the
umbrella organisation representing about 2 million doctors
through the National Medical Associations of the European
Union / European Free Trade Area. Its aims are to promote
the highest standards of medical training and medical
practice in order to achieve the highest quality of health
care for all citizens of Europe.

The European Health Telematics Association
("EHTEL"), provides to its members a platform
for information lobbying, representation, networking and
co-operation in support of the implementation of information
and communication technologies (ICT) in health and social
care in Europe. The association brings together under
one roof all of the constituencies with an interest in
ICTs in health and social care: National and regional
health authorities and systems, eHealth Implementation
agencies and Competence Centres, Hospitals and other health
institutions, Public and private insurance providers,

HOPE is the European Hospital and
Healthcare Federation. Created in 1966, it gathers national
hospital federations and other national federation of
owners of hospitals, both public and private. As an international
association, its mission is to promote improvements in
the health of citizens throughout the countries of the
EU and a uniformly high standard of hospital and healthcare
care throughout the EU.

Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union
The Pharmaceutical Group of the European
Union (PGEU) is the European association representing
community pharmacists in 29 European countries including
EU Member States, EEA countries and EU applicant countries.
Within the enlarged EU, over 400.000 community pharmacists
provide services throughout a network of more than
160.000 pharmacies, to an estimated of 46 million
European citizens daily.

UEMS -
European Union of Medical Specialists
The European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS) is the
representative organisation of the National Associations
of Medical Specialists in the European Union, its associated
countries and beyond. With a current membership of 34
countries, the UEMS represents 1.5 million specialist
doctors, notably through its 37 Specialist Sections and
Boards.
By its agreed documents, the UEMS sets standards for high
quality healthcare practice and the harmonisation of high
level training across Europe that are transmitted to the
Authorities and Institutions of the EU and the National
Medical Associations stimulating and encouraging them
to implement its recommendations.
In 2000, the UEMS established the extremely important
European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education (EACCME®), which facilitates the exchange
of CME credits within the European Union, its associated
countries and the United States. These are achieved by
virtue of common memoranda of agreement on mutual recognition
reached between UEMS, the National Accreditation Authorities
and the American Medical Association.
