2005
World
e-ID (previously
named "eGovernment & SmartCard International
Meeting"), is organized by the main pan-european
e-government association "eForum"
(+ Strategies Telecoms & Multimedia) and
endorsed by representative organizations and
consortiums such as: Smart Card Forum of China,
Smart Card Alliance (USA), Eurosmart, GlobalPlatform,
Java Card Forum, New Media Development Associations
(Japan)...: It is co-located with the "eSmart"
conference (September 21, 22 & 23, 2005
on the French Riviera).
Personal identification has always been the
first step of human relationships. In this
age of the networked society, and its global
world of information exchanges and transactions,
the mechanisms for this basic ID function
are more crucial than ever before.
A
combination of identity management
technologies, communication networks,
national and international regulations
and security management now provides
Governments and private companies
with the means to establish and depend
on trusted electronic identities and
thereby opens the road to the global
information society.
However for a truly genuine useful
World e-ID to emerge, many difficulties
need to be tackled and resolved.
The objective of the "World e-ID"
conference is to present, discuss
and clarify at a real global level
the main issues required for trusted
electronic identities. It is designed
to gather world renowned experts in
public administration, business and
technology to present and review the
cutting edge implementation and state
of the art in technologies, regulations
and practices in this domain from
across the globe.
