Xavier Aubry was formerly the COO of a French technology start-up, where he managed product development, worldwide sales & marketing, and led the company into new markets in Europe, Asia, and the US. Xavier holds an MBA from Harvard Business School with high distinction. Under his management, Appear Networks has become a leader in context-aware computing and became a Red Herring 100 Europe Winner in 2008.

Manuel Bach joined the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) in 2005. Prior to entering government service, Mr. Bach worked in the private sector as a product manager in the field of biometrics and voice encryption. He held positions with companies in San Francisco/USA, Zurich/Switzerland and Bonn/Germany. Mr. Bach holds a master's degree in international business.

Martin Böhm is Senior Project Manager for telematics applications at AustriaTech. He has been involved in the organisation and execution of several research and development projects, co-funded by the European Commission. For the current running integrated project COOPERS he is project coordinator, and for E-FRAME he is project responsible for AustriaTech. He holds a Master (Mag.) in Geography as well as in Traffic Telematics Management (MSc).

Penny Bougia was born in Ioannina, Greece, in 1980. She received the Diploma degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the School of Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2003 and the Master of Science in “Telecommunications Applications” from the Department of Physics of University of Ioannina in 2008. Since 2004, she has been working as member of the Software Engineering Team in the Unit of Medical Technology and Intelligent Information Systems, Department of Computer Science, University of Ioannina, Greece. She has participated in several EC funded projects as technical manager and she is the co-author of several published scientific articles in related conferences, journals and books.
     

DOMINIK BRANDLBERGER
Mobile Computing Master Student - NFC Research Lab Hagenberg

Dominik Brandlberger is currently a Mobile Computing Master Student at the NFC Research Lab Hagenberg and dealing with SAT and SCWS Development. His major is software development on smartcards and embedded systems. He is working with SmartCards and NFC Technology for more than two years now and previously was working for Skidata Access-Control AG. Dominik at the moment is dealing with OTA features for JavaCard using BIP Server and Client Mode for further applications.
     

CARSTEN BRINKSCHULTE

Carsten Brinkschulte is Chief Executive Officer of Synchronica PLC (formerly DAT Group PLC), a role he has held since October 2005. A serial entrepreneur, he has founded and developed several successful and innovative technology enterprises, including Weblicon Technologies AG and Century Software. Prior to this, he worked alongside leading multinationals such as SAP and Apple. 
With over 20 years experience in the IT industry, Carsten is one of the pioneers in wireless synchronization and over-the-air device management, and is a leading proponent of the SyncML / Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) open-standard.
     

MICHAEL BROWN
Director, Program Management - Global Security Group, Research in Motion

Mike is the Director, Security Product Management in the Global Security Group at Research In Motion (RIM). His responsibilities include security focused Product Management for the various products at RIM, and specialty security products such as the S/MIME and PGP Solutions for BlackBerry, the BlackBerry Smart Card Reader, and core security features of BlackBerry. Previously a Software Developer within the Security Team at RIM, he was heavily involved in the development of the S/MIME Support Package for BlackBerry. Mike holds a Master's degree in Mathematics, focusing on cryptography, from the University of Waterloo.

Fevzi Çakmak has been in the telecommunications industry since 1995 and is currently Director of Business Development for Mobile at Irdeto covering content protection solutions for Broadcast Mobile TV and DRM. Previously, Fevzi has held a number of roles at LogicaCMG including Senior Business Development Manager for Multimedia and Text Messaging Solutions. Fevzi has also worked for Vodafone Netherlands being responsible for Strategic Alliances and Partnerships.

Professional Services Manager - Trusted Logic

Christophe Colas is Professional Services Manager in the Professional & Consumer Devices Business Unit at Trusted Logic. He is responsible for Technical Marketing and Software Integrations of Trusted Logic Wireless Security products in particular into silicon vendors and OEM-based products.
Christophe Colas was previously Chief Software Architect within the Ingenico Group, one of the leaders in EFT/POS terminals market, where he has led the development of Java-based embedded technologies. Earlier, Christophe was with Bull CP8 in North America and France developing several software security architectures around smart cards. He is graduate of the "Ecole des Mines" and holds a Master of Science in Computer Science.

ROGER DEAN
Executive Director - EEMA

Roger Dean, played a significant role as a founder member and executive director of eema during the launch and establishment of the association in Zurich in 1987. During the last 21 years, Roger has contributed immensely to eema’s growth throughout Europe. During this time, his responsibilities have included the co-ordination of the various activities of the Areas of Focus, project managed the various Interest Groups and other working groups. These include the X.400 and X.500 standards interoperability demonstrator trails and the very successful PKI challenge which was undertaken on behalf of the European Commission and included PKI and authentication interoperability trials between 25 vendors from 9 countries.

Examples of papers produced recently are:- Towards Understanding Identity, An Introduction to Instant Messaging, Spam and e-mail Abuse Management, Wireless Deployment Guidelines, Secure e-Mail within the Organisation and PKI Usage within User Organisations.

Roger has been involved in the formation and interoperability of many standards and standard bodies, such as X.400, X.500, XML, “T”scheme, Emeritus, Web Services, e-procurement data and content standards.  He assisted with the creation of UNSPSC and is a founding director of ECCMA, which maintained the UNSPSC product and services classification, which has established itself as a world standard with over 100,000 business adopters.

Prior to joining eema, Roger had a lead role in several start-up initiatives, including launching the first commercial e-mail service into the UK, France and Switzerland. He has a world class network of business contacts including senior executives in industry, multi-national companies, government, United Nations, European Union, DTI, e-envoy, OGC, NHS, defence and intelligence services.

Sylvestre Denis is specialized in Mobile TV security solutions within the Advanced and Innovation
Group of Oberthur Technologies. Prior to this role, he was the Security Product Manager for
Oberthur Technologies handling products including SIM-based WiFi and PKI authentication USIM
cards.

His initial experience in the R&D department was on the world first WIM card (1999) and
JavaCard SIM card (1997).

Mr Denis graduated in 1995 from the French Institute National des Telecommunications (INT)
and also holds a Master in Automation - Diplôme d'Etude Approfondie (DEA) - from Paris XII
University.

Jean-Loup Dépinay serves now as Program Manager R&D Fundings (collaborative projects) at Oberthur Card Systems (formerly Delarue Card Systems).  Jean-Loup Dépinay, as Java Card OpenPlatform Architect, has architected and managed several Java Card platforms which have been deployed in banking, identity and mobile markets worldwide and which have focused on single market and converging.

Jan Eichholz is working as Security Consultant within Giesecke & Devrient GmbH. His main focus is on middleware architectures, which are necessary to support the usage of electronic identity cards in public and private environments. Jan Eichholz is an active contributor for CEN prTS 15480 and ISO/IEC 24727. Additionally, Jan was the specification lead of the Java Specification Requests 120 and 205.
     

MARI ANNE ERVASTI

Mari Anne Ervasti is a research scientist at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. She received her Master of Science (Tech.) in information networks from the University of Oulu in year 2007. Her major areas of interest concern mobile service and marketing concepts from the perspectives of customer, technology and business. Her research also concentrates on the adoption and diffusion of mobile services as well as on the end-user value creation and evaluation. She has been involved in many projects concerning mobile business and commerce, and will soon be starting her PhD studies.

Martin Gruber holds a degree in Business Administration from the Karl-Franzens University Graz, Austria; during his studies, he gained experience abroad as an exchange student at the University of Queensland, Australia and at the Universidad de Extremadura, Spain. Additionally, he holds a postgraduate degree in Export, Marketing & International Management from the Karl-Franzens University Graz, Austria. In 2007, he completed his Executive MBA Program in General Management at the IMC Graz, Austria.

He has several years of work experience in Project Management, Product Management, and Segment Marketing Management. In his current role, Martin Gruber is responsible for the global market development of NXP Semiconductors’ strategy in Automatic Fare Collection (AFC), Access Control and Event Ticketing wrt the mifare interface technology.

Heli Susanna Helaakoski works as a senior research scientist at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. She has got her Bachelor of Science in machine automation from the Oulu Polytechnic and Master of Science in computer engineering in year 2001 from University of Oulu. At the moment she is finalising her PhD studies. Her research interests are interoperability, agent technology, ontologies, semantic technologies and mobile applications. She has worked in several industry-related research projects as a research manager and has over 20 scientific publications.
    

THOMAS HISSAM
Mobile Payment Subject Matter expert - IBM Global Business Services

Tom Hissam is an Associate Partner in IBM’s Global Smart Card Solutions consulting practice.  He specializes in mobile payments and m-commerce and has in-depth experience in chip card deployments in banking, government and telecommunications industries.
He and his team have worked on leading-edge first-of-a-kind projects globally. His specific project experiences include the following examples:

- Mr. Hissam developed IBM Mobile Payment Solutions and Business Cases on a worldwide basis, be they message, Java MIDlet or Near Field Communications based.

- Mr. Hissam was a key leader in the development and deployment of IBM’s Java chip card operating system, JCOP. He worked extensively with chip manufacturers, governments, and telecom operators to promote the use of JCOP in chip card initiatives.

- Mr. Hissam was responsible for developing IBM’s smart card go-to-market strategies for the banking, telecommunications, retail, travel and transportation industries through his knowledge of mobile payments solutions, partners, smart chips and associated architecture.  In these roles, he was responsible for coordinating worldwide opportunities and industry involvement, including international teams in Japan, Korea, US, Germany and France. 

- Mr. Hissam acted as global focus area leader for IBM’s smartcard, biometrics and intelligent vending businesses, coordinating solutions across IBM and with partners, managing resource and product requirements and development of business cases for new solutions.
For prior employers, Mr. Hissam developed a proven track record for building start-up smart card businesses, and coordinating alliance strategies with system and software vendors.  In these roles he promoted and expanded smart card reader development, including distribution and marketing alliances, and development of customized card, reader, software and services solutions. 

- Mr. Hissam is a former member of Java Card Forum industry standards board, and charter member of Smart Card Alliance, an industry organization chartered to drive smart card adoption.  He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on the topic of chip card operating systems and solutions, including ID World, Cartes in Paris and the Java Card Forum. 

- Mr. Hissam earned a master degree in international business from the University of South Carolina, and a bachelor degree from Davidson College in North Carolina.  He is proficient in English, German, French, Russian and several Slavic languages.

Josef Langer is working since more than 10 years in the smart card and terminal hardware area. Since 2001 he is managing director of CDE GmbH, in 2003 he has been appointed professor at the university of Applied Sciences of Hagenberg, Austria. He is head of the NFC Research Lab. Josef, born in 1971, hold a master degree from the University of Vienna in electrical engineering, and a master from RWTH Aachen and a PhD form the Johannes Kepler University. Josef is author of more than 30 publications.

GERALD MADLMAYR
Research Associate - NFC Research Lab Hagenberg

Gerald Madlmayr is Research Associate at the Research Center Hagenberg. There his work is focused on NFC/RFID based applications as well as security and privacy in such systems. He is an authority on NFC technology and applications, actively participating in the standardization of NFC. Within the scope of his job one of the most sophisticated NFC trials was launched in 2006. His work is mirrored in several international publications, a patent as well as the annual NFC Congress in Hagenberg.

Mr Mitrunen  is a long-term business development and international sales expert. He is one of the  founders of Valimo Wireless Ltd, leading European technology vendor for Secure Mobile Identity. Mr. Mitrunen has an MA. degree from University of Joensuu. During his long career he has been working on key positions both in public and private sector, mainly related to security. Last 10 years he has been focusing on building Mobile Security Ecosystems together with Financial institutes and Mobile Operators. In Valimo he is responsible for new business opportunities and partnering and part of Valimo board.
    

JAN MUEHLFEIT

Jan Muehlfeit is responsible for engaging with European governments and policy makers, academics and other societal stakeholders in Brussels and across EU member states. His goal is to ensure that Microsoft continues to act as a trusted, open partner that listens and contributes to Europe’s agenda, enabling long-term growth, local economic competitiveness and job creation and innovation.

In his previous roles, as vice president of public sector and lately as vice president for corporate and government strategy, Jan Muehlfeit was responsible for promoting Microsoft solutions for public-sector organizations and delivering an excellent customer and industry partner experience. He also led Microsoft’s efforts to constructively support the policy goals of governments in EMEA, from employment and social issues through to competitiveness and economic growth.

Muehlfeit joined Microsoft in 1993 and, during his seven years in the company’s Czech and Slovak operations, headed a variety of departments including marketing and sales. In 1998, Muehlfeit was named general manager of Microsoft Czech Republic. Despite the challenging economic environment, his team generated remarkable results, and Muehlfeit became known for his dedication to the success of Microsoft partners and customers in the region. In 2000 he became regional director of Microsoft Eastern Europe and was promoted to vice president in 2002. Under his leadership, Microsoft business expanded substantially in the region, with new offices opening in several countries. In 2004-2005 Jan was also part of Microsoft’s international emerging markets executive board.

Born in 1962, Muehlfeit grew up in Czechoslovakia. He received a computer science degree from the Czech Technical University in 1986 and, before joining Microsoft, worked in the public sector as a programmer and information systems manager. Later he was director of international sales and marketing for Software602, a Czech software development company. Muehlfeit continues to support several charities, including "PCs Against Barriers", a joint initiative of Microsoft Czech Republic and a Czech NGO.. Muehlfeit has received numerous awards, including "Best Manager of Czech Republic for 1999" from the Czech prime minister, the "Czech Brain Award," presented by the Czech minister of foreign affairs and was named the Czech IT Personality of the Year three times. He also serves on the supervisory board of the Charta 77 Foundation and is a board member of the European Academy of Business in Society (EABiS) and the Junior Achievement Young Enterprise Europe (JAYE).

Paul Nerger is Vice President of Advanced Services and Applications, dotMobi. He is responsible for supporting developer-focused programs, such as dev.mobi (the dotMobi Developer Forum) and leading applications like DeviceAtlas™, the world's largest and most accurate superset of mobile device information. Prior to joining dotMobi in November 2007, Mr. Nerger served as Director and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Argo Interactive Ltd, a market-leading provider of automated test and evaluation tools for the mobile telecommunications industry. He has previously held senior executive and management positions in marketing, sales and engineering globally. Mr. Nerger served as a Captain in the United States Air Force and graduated with a BS in Computer Science from Washington State University. He has also completed post-graduate work in business at Oxford University and has lectured at the MIT Sloane Business School’s Institute for Business Innovation.
     

SIRPA NORDLUND
Sales Director, Europe - Venyon Group

Ms. Nordlund is Sales Director, Europe for Venyon Group, headquartered in Helsinki. Venyon offers hosted services for banks, transport companies and other service providers in order to download their applications securely over the air to the consumers’ NFC phones while they maintain branding and consumer facing activities.

Before joining Venyon she was working for Nokia from the very beginning of NFC/RFID development for Nokia devices. She was responsible for market strategies for NFC product line as Business Manager, and held several positions after that, the latest being the Head of Operations.
           
Ms. Nordlund holds Master of Science in Economics degree (M. of Sc. in Econ.) from Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.
     

DAVIDE PRATONE
IC Cards Lab Manager - Telecom Italia

Davide Pratone is a graduate of Physics at Turin University and joined Telecom Italia R&D in 1997. He contributed in the development and deployment of the ISDN Payphone Network designing its Payment Architecture. In 2001 he participated to the European research projects named SINCE (Secure and Interoperable Networking for Contactless in Europe). From 2002 he works on SIM card projects dealing with new services development, testing and validation. Actually he is responsible for the Telecom Italia IC Cards Lab. Moreover he represents Telecom Italia in the following standardization body: ETSI SCP TEC and 3GPP CT6.
     

HOSSEIN RAHNAMA
Research and Innovation Engineer - Appear Networks

Hossein Rahnama (BSc. , MASc.)  is leading Appear's Research  and Innovation program in North America and participates as a researcher in the MUSIC project, a European funded project under the sixth framework.
Working closely with Appear, Ryerson University and Ontario Centers of Excellence, Hossein is leading a group of researchers to analyze and develop the next generation of ubiquitous and context-aware software platforms.  Hossein is finishing his doctoral studies in the analysis of social principles in context-based mobile networks at Ryerson University in Toronto.  Before joining Appear,  Hossein has worked with leading telecommunications companies in the United Kingdom, Denmark and Canada.

DAVID ROGERS
Director of External Relations - OMTP Ltd

David Rogers is the Director of External Relations for OMTP, liaising with standards bodies and other members of the mobile phone industry. He is the Chair of OMTP’s Incident Handling task, Programme Manager for the ‘Advanced Trusted Environment’ and is currently working on the BONDI mobile web initiative. In 2007 he authored the OMTP’s security whitepaper, ‘Mobile Handset Security: Securing Open Devices and Enabling Trust’. David joined OMTP in 2006 after 8 years at Panasonic Mobile. Whilst there, he headed up Panasonic’s Product Security initiatives in Europe, including investigating hacking against mobile devices. He also managed a development team specialising in hardware, software and security solutions for service centres worldwide. Prior to this David worked for Fujitsu Microelectronics Ltd, in their Newton Aycliffe DRAM fab. He holds an MSc in Software Engineering from Oxford University and a HND in Mechatronics and Semiconductor Process Engineering from the University of Teesside.

Carsten Rust received his degree in Computer Science from the University of Paderborn, Germany, in 1996. Until 2004, he held a research position at a joint research lab operated by the University of Paderborn and Siemens, where he worked on the design of embedded real-time systems. In August 2004, he joined ORGA Kartensysteme (which became Sagem Orga in 2005) as a project manager for R&D projects. At Sagem Orga he is in charge of cooperative founded R&D projects.
     

JOSEF SCHARINGER

Josef Scharinger received his MSc in 1992 and his PhD in 1995, both from Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria.
Currently he holds the position of an Associate Professor at the Department of Computational Perception at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria.
Josef Scharinger continuously acts as a reviewer for a variety of international journals and conferences, has published more than 60 international scientific publications in books, journals and conference proceedings and also has co-authored 4 patents in the field of IT security. His research interests include signal Processing (image and speech), biometrics, cryptography and nonlinear systems theory (chaos theory).
     

LARS SCHNAKE

Lars Schnake studied electrical engineering at the University of Applied Science in Lippe/Germany and received his diploma in 2001. He then joined the ORGA Kartensysteme GmbH (which became Sagem Orga in 2005) as a software engineer, developing equipment and software for smart-card mass personalization systems. Since 2003 he has worked on new Java Card applications and innovative solutions for the telecommunication market.

THOMAS SKORDAS
Deputy Head of Security Unit - INFSO/MEDIA DG, European Commission

Thomas Skordas received his diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1984 from University Aristotle (Thessaloniki, Greece), and the PhD in Computer Science in 1988, from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (France). He then worked at Cap Gemini Sogeti as project leader in EU-funded R&D projects in the areas of Information Technology and Robotics.

In 1995, Thomas joined the European Commission as Scientific Officer in the Information Society Technologies Program, part of the Directorate General Information Society & Media (DG INFSO). From 2003 to 2005, Thomas was part of the Future and Emerging Technologies Unit of DG INFSO, where he was responsible for the strategic planning and thinking of the Unit and for the preparation of new basic research agendas in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Since 1st February 2006, Thomas has joined the DG INFSO Unit dealing with research in ICT Security and Trust, where he is Deputy Head of Unit.

Pierre-Emmanuel Struyven joined Streamezzo's management team in 2007. Before that, he spent five years in the world's largest music company Universal Music, heading successively Operations, Product Marketing and New Business Development for the Mobile subsidiary Universal Music Mobile and the newly formed Digital Division. From 2000 to 2002 he was Director of Product Marketing at SFR, the French mobile operator. Also at SFR, he held various positions in the IT Division, in charge of Marketing and Sales development program for the operator from the early days of GSM in 1994 until 2000. Pierre-Emmanuel holds an Engineering Degree from Ecole Polytechnique at Free University Brussels
     

FARAZ SYED

Recognizing a need in the fast growing mobile industry to provide the first truly affordable handset testing service, Faraz founded DeviceAnywhere in April 2003. Faraz spearheaded DeviceAnywhere's evolution from being a technology provider for testing to its role today as a comprehensive mobile development environment. Clients throughout the world can access real mobile phones linked to live operator networks, through the Internet on their desktops. Being one of the fastest growing mobile start-up companies in Silicon Valley, the company provides service to many of the largest Internet and mobile companies in the world with more than 650 clients using the service.

Prior to launching DeviceAnywhere, Faraz was the Director of Solutions at Brience, a mobile WAP applications company, and a Technical Architect at KPMG Consulting. While employed with Brience, he experienced the difficulty and expense required to develop new mobile applications when teams often had to travel abroad to set up testing labs and independently purchase new handsets. The challenge facing the industry presented Faraz with the vision for founding DeviceAnywhere. Faraz has also held technical positions at Oracle, KLA Tencor and AMD. He holds a MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also the lead singer for a local rock band, Kaif.
     

DR. ELENA TRICHINA
Senior Member of Technical Staff, System Engineering - Spansion

Dr. Elena Trichina holds Master’s degrees in Mathematics and Linguistic from Novosibirsk State University, Russia, and PhD in Computer Science from the Computing Center of the Siberian Division of Academy of Sciences.
She has an extensive experience in both, academia and industry. In 1990-2004 she held academic positions from Lecturer to Professor in a number of universities in Finland, Australia and New Zealand. Currently she is an Adjunct Professor in the University of Kuopio, Finland, supervising PhD and Master students. Her research interests vary from microprocessor architecture to computer security, smart cards, and cryptography.

While still being in academia Elena started her career in industry. She worked as a security consultant in Cryptographic Design Center of Gemplus International, one of the world largest smart card manufacturers. Also for two years Elena worked in Samsung Electronics where she as a senior consultant to the Executive VP System LSI and contributed to design of state of the art secure cryptographic co-processors for secret and public key cryptography. She joined Spansion, one of the largest flash memory manufacturers, in 2004 as a Senior Member of Technical Staff, Strategic Development, where she works on design of secure memories, secure MMC and high-density smart cards. She also contributes on behalf of the company in the work of standardization committees, such as Open Mobile Alliance (WG on Smart Cards and Security) and Open Trusted Mobile Platform.
She published more than 30 academic papers and co-authored a number of patents on cryptographic hardware and in particular, in the area of protection of such hardware from non-invasive attacks. She served as a program committee member for international conferences on computer security, such as Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems and Fault Detection and Fault Tolerance in Cryptography. She also serves as a referee for a number of international journals.
     

PROF. PASCAL URIEN
ENST

Pascal Urien is full professor at Telecom ParisTech (ENST). He graduated from Ecole Centrale de Lyon, and received a PHD in computer science. His main research interests include security and smart cards, especially for wireless networks and distributed computing architectures. He holds fourteen patents and about one hundred publications in these domains. He is the father of the internet smart card technology, which won two industrial awards, Best Technological Innovation at cartes'2000 (Paris) and Most Innovative Product of Year at the Advanced Card Award 2001 (London).
He invented the EAP smart card, that won two industrial awards, Best Technological Innovation at cartes'2003 (Paris), and Breakthrough Innovation Award at CardtTech/SecureTech 2004 (Washington DC). In 2006 he won a bronze award at the SecureTheWeb Developer Contest, organized by Gemalto and Microsoft. In June 2007 Pascal was one of the winners of French 9th national contest, for the support of innovative start-ups. Pascal collaborates in several industrial committees like the IETF and multiple French and European research projects.
     

JANNE UUSILEHTO
Head - Nokia Product Security

Mr. Janne Uusilehto has extensive experience in ICT industry, having begun his career during his studies in 1982, as an independent software developer and consultant for small businesses.
He currently serves as Head of Nokia Product Security, with overall responsibility for Nokia product security development.  His team is the overall owner of the Product Security Laboratory and product security related education, awareness and process improvement tasks.
Janne Uusilehto is also a member of several Nokia internal security related management boards.  Additionally he serves as chair of the Mobile Work Group, Trusted Computing Group; chairman of EICTA mobile Security Issue group; and is Nokia’s main representative to the SAFECode forum.
     

BERNARD VAN DER LANDE
Director of New business development and Technologies - Atos Worldline

Bernard van der Lande is Director of  New business development and Technologies within Atos Worldline in Belgium. His department is in charge of new solutions and technologies adressing the Internet and Mobile Payments markets as well as the business development with telecom operators and the Belgian banks.
Bernard  joined the payment industry in 1998 as Head of Products Marketing of Banksys. Banksys was the national payment processor in Belgium and has been sold in 2007 by the Belgian banks to Atos Worldline, the Atos Origin subsidiary in charge of transactions processing in Europe.
Before that, Bernard worked 5 years for Belgacom, the Belgian Telecom operator and 6 years for Olivetti where he occupied different marketing and business development positions in Europe.

Bernard has a Business Master degree from the Solvay Business School, ULB.
     

JOHN VERITY
Co-ordinator EU-IFM Project and Head of Compliance - ITSO Limited (UK)

John Verity is Head of Security and Compliance for ITSO Limited, having had a wide ranging career spanning five decades.  A graduate in Chemistry, he spent over 30 years working for BP before becoming Operations Manager for Rail Settlement Plan in 1999, the UK’s National Rail ticketing organisation.  He was a rail sector director of ITSO before joining ITSO in 2004
ITSO was founded in 1998 to develop suitable standards for inter-operable smartcard ticketing. The ITSO Specification and environment is now live and fully operational.
John’s role in ITSO is to oversee its governance and risk management.  This includes managing an out-sourced Security Management System, and a Testing and Certification Service validating Supplier software and hardware against all aspects of the ITSO Specification to ensure full interoperability.
     

CHARLES WALTON
EVP Payments - INSIDE Contactless

Charles is responsible for leading the Payments Business group within INSIDE Contactless, focused upon contactless and dual interface bank card enablement with INSIDE’s MicroPass intelligent payment platform. Charles has more than twelve years experience in the smart card sector. As the founder and CEO of Caradas, he was involved in smart card system development & integration programs with Visa, MasterCard, Fleet Bank, and Target. In addition, he served as COO of Diversinet driving mobile security initiatives, along with smart card & security experience with Securify (SVP, Security Services), CertCo (COO), and Spyrus (Director of Electronic Commerce). As well, he was the co-founder of the CyberTrust business at GTE and instrumental in capturing key first contract wins with MasterCard, American Express, and in Japan through the CyberTrust Japan joint venture.

Within France Telecom - Orange since 2005, MK Woo is charge of developing mobile payment and mobile contactless services to be deployed throughout the countries where the Group operates.

He is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications. He started his career in the UK working on very large defence communication projects. He then joined a consultancy as a practice director. His last position was director at a French interbank organisation specialised in new electronic payment systems.
