XAVIER APPÉ
Project Leader in the Technology & Innovation
department - Gemalto
Xavier Appé graduated both, from Ecole
Superieure d'Electricite (Supelec) and from the
Information Networking Institute of Carnegie Mellon
Univerisity in 2003. He then spent two years working
in the travel industry at Amadeus before joining
Axalto in October 2005. Currently Project Leader
in the Technology & Innovation department
of Gemalto, he designed and developed the first
Single Wire Protocol (SWP) UICC operating system
allowing a SIM card to communicate with external
Contactless devices through the NFC interface.
He is now involved in most of the Gemalto's NFC
pilot projects and is in charge of all types of
innovations surrounding this technology.

JEAN-PAUL CARUANA
Contactless Technology Center Manager - Gemalto
Jean-Paul Caruana drives the Contactless Technology
Center, one of the Gemalto Research and Development
department. He is specialized in contactless proximity
area: (ISO/IEC 14443 product) and in charge of
Gemalto Products design, Contactless Operating
system development, technology support for the
Business Unit and advanced R&D around contactless
from Radio frequency to applications. Since 1996,
he has been representing Gemalto as an active
member inside the WG8 ISO Working group in charge
of ISO/IEC 14443 standard. He also takes part
to different international task forces around
the contactless technology.
M. Caruana is graduated from Ecole Nationale Supérieure
Ingénieur de Marseille, France.

CÉDRIC COLLOMB
Senior Vice President Identity and Access Management
- Gemalto
Cédric Collomb is senior vice president
Network Identification Solutions (NIS), responsible
for developing the strategy and the offering related
to security products and solutions. These cover
logical access for enterprise and government employees
as well as Internet access for online consumers.
Cédric joined Schlumberger's electricity
metering division in France in 1992 where he served
as manufacturing engineering manager for 5 years.
He then held various managing positions in the
smart cards and terminals division and actively
participated in the launch of Value Added Services
(VAS) with leading operators in Europe. In 1999,
he was appointed marketing director for financial
cards and services and played a key role in the
initial roll out of EMV cards in the UK. Two years
later, he took on the position of marketing director
Asia, based in Beijing, and launched several large-scale
high-end cards deployments in the region.
Cédric holds an engineering degree in computer
science and automation from the Ecole Centrale
de Lyon.

PIERRE GIRARD
Security Expert, Manager of the Open System Security
Team - Gemalto
Pierre Girard holds a PhD in computer security
from École Nationale Supérieure
de lAéronautique et de lEspace
(SupAéro) and an engineering
degree in computer science from Institut National
des Sciences Appliquées (I.N.S.A.) de Toulouse.
Pierre has 14 years of experience in computer
security including 10 years of experience in smart
card security.
Prior joining Gemplus (recently merged with Axalto
and renamed Gemalto), Pierre Girard has been a
researcher in computer security at the Office
National dÉtudes et de Recherches
en Aéronautique (ONERA) in Toulouse.
Since 1997 in Gemplus, Pierre Girard has been
working as a security architect and currently
manages a team of 10 security experts, exclusively
dedicated to embedded Java security. The missions
of this team are: security architecture, design,
and evaluation of embedded virtual machines and
applets (Java Card, J2ME, Finread,
) as
well as the delivery of security building blocks
such as byte code verifiers. The team also conducts
research projects alone or in collaboration with
external labs.
Pierre Girard has been the chairman of the Java
Card Forum security task force, which designs
the security architecture of Java Card, from 2000
to 2005.
Pierre is the author or co-author of 20+ security
papers and 20+ security related patents.

CHRISTIAN GOIRE
Head of Advanced Technology Strategy and Promotion,
Technology and Innovation - Gemalto
Christian has wide experience in the banking sector
and security industry as a whole and over the
years, has introduced concepts of mainframe computers
into smart cards.
He is one of the founders of Java Card technology
and its SIM applications as a researcher and President
of the Java Card Forum.Christian previously managed
a subsidiary of Bull CP8 in the USA on the technical
side (Visa, MasterCard, Microsoft, DoD, etc),
as well as starting and managing a wealthy terminal
activity and the creation of the formal method
group in Bull CP8.
Christian stayed with Bull through the change
to Schlumberger and then Axalto, and is now Head
of Advanced Technology Strategy and Promotion
at Gemalto.
He has a number of Patents, a large communication
portfolio and has written a number of articles.
He is also a prolific speaker on Java Card technology.

Frédéric Martinent is the marketing
manager for MultiMedia Business Group within Gemalto:
In this position, he is leading marketing and
product management for Gemalto MultiMedia offer,
including cards, applications, tools, and services.
He has pioneered the MultiMedia SIM technology
since 2005, as product manager for applications
and services.
Prior to this position, he was leading the engineering
team behind Gemplus OTA platform, the leading
platform for remote management of SIM cards, deployed
in more than 140 telecom operators worldwide.
Previously, he has held various positions within
Thales, Hewlett-Packard, Schlumberger and Gemplus,
in the fields of engineering and professional
services.
Frédéric Martinent has a Master
Degree in Information Technology from Grenoble
Institute of Technology (ENSIMAG), and he is the
author of 4 patents.

STÉFANE MOUILLE
Marketing Director Healthcare Solutions - Gemalto
Stéfane has many years experience in the
smart card industry, leading projects in both
the Banking and Public Sectors.
His responsibilities include the definition and
implementation of worldwide strategy for e-health
within Gemalto. This involves managing Gemaltos
activities within several national health schemes
such as in France, Germany, Mexico, Algeria, Finland,
Slovenia, China and also the Pan European Healthcare
Insurance card program NETC@RDS. Prior to his
current role, Stéfane was Marketing Manager
for Banking and Retail within Gemplus and has
also held several positions in Product Marketing.
Stéfane holds a Degree in Electronic Engineering
and a Master Degree in Marketing and Management
from ESC Wesford Grenoble, France.

GABRIEL RANGONI
Mobile-TV Product & Marketing Director -
Gemalto
Gabriel Rangoni is mobile TV product and marketing
director at Gemalto.
Gabriel joined Schlumberger as a telecom engineer
in 1999 and worked in the R&D team of this
segment. Then he served as project manager in
France and in the UK, as part of the telecom
activities of the EMEA region.
In 2002, he became EMEA marketing manager for
value-added services and two years later, he
was responsible for developing the multimedia
and convergence offerings and introducing these
new technologies in the market.
In 2007, Gabriel was appointed head of mobile
TV product and marketing, in charge of the offering
related to this sector.
Gabriel Rangoni owns several patents related
to mobile TV and smart card technology. He holds
a master degree in electronics engineering from
INSA (Lyon, France) and a specialization in
image and signal processing (DEA).

VINCENT VÉRAN
NFC Marketing Manager - Gemalto
Vincent Véran is Marketing Manager at Gemalto,
in charge of Near Field Communications (NFC) applications.
Prior to the Gemplus-Axalto merger, he has been
with Axalto since 2000, holding various team management
and marketing positions both in France and the
Czech Republic. He also has experienced core networks
businesses, working for two years in Korea with
Sagem and with Ericsson in Paris. Vincent holds
a MA in Information Technology from ENPC (Ecole
Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées).
