10:15 - 10:45 am Stay in the driving seat with MultiMedia SIM !
Frederic Martinent, Marketing Manager for the MultiMedia Business Group
The advances in wireless technology allow the deployment of exciting new mobile multimedia services for the end-user, but they also create a huge strategical challenge for telecom operators, as a lot of other actors are also decided to take benefit from this opportunity (handset manufacturers, Internet service providers, media companies, ...). As the only element in the hands of the subscriber that is controlled by the operators, the SIM card is helping them to secure their position in this new value chain.

10:45 - 11:15 am Secure MNOs Mobile TV business model
Gabriel Rangoni, Mobile-TV Product & Marketing Director
The combination of two of the most popular consumer products of our time – the mobile phone and the television – is showing huge potential and opens up new revenue streams for all the actors in the value chain. But these new revenue streams will also inevitably attract professional Pay TV pirates, who rank amongst the most sophisticated hackers in the world.

Considering the potential risk of hacking a mobile TV conditional access system and the difficulty for mobile network operators to face this threat, Gemalto provides a global Mobile TV service which includes a range of highly sophisticated and secure Mobile TV cards, associated with a unique offer of remote upgrade & maintenance services, which is the best solution for MNOs to face security threats and manage functional evolutions.

This session introduces Mobile TV market trends and presents state-of-the art solutions for operators willing to secure their Mobile TV business model.

2 - INNOVATION STREAM

2:30 - 3:00 pm VOIP: the importance of being security aware
Pierre Girard, Security Expert, Manager of the Open Security System
With the global trend of fixed-mobile convergence and new emerging technologies like IMS and UMA, voice over IP will be the killer application that will disrupt the (mobile) network operators competition landscape. If this fact is largely known and publicized, the security aspect is less discussed. Security levels across different technologies are dissimilar and their convergence point is currently fuzzy. When leaving the good old world of SIM-secured communications, this presentation will highlight the pitfalls lurking in the highway toward the new bright VoIP future.

3:30 - 4:00 pm Deeper inside multimedia and convergence :The Digital Swiss Army Knife
François Xavier Marseille, Technology & Innovation Engineer
For many years, the Smart Card industry sought for new horizons to conquer: content, connectivity, versatility. Finally, with the support of the widely spread USB protocol and IETF standards, it has reached its goal.
We saw the first buds in Multimedia cards as well as convergence tokens.
4:00 - 4:30 pm   Coffee break

4:30 - 5:00 pm Contactless: Ubiquity for Sim environment
Xavier Appé, Project Leader in the Technology & Innovation department
The expansion of NFC technologies offers new businesses to the SIM card industry and brings Contactless capabilities to the SIM environment. With numerous application area like transportation, banking and access, the SIM card is about to become a major multi-function element that may end-up being a central device for hosting user-oriented secure applications.

5:00 - 5:30 pm   Pay-TV & Mobile-TV, a topnotch security challenge
Laurent Gauteron, Pay-TV Security Expert
Pay-TV is a lucrative business, but despite the stakes, Broadcast Systems do not have means to control how and by who the content is accessed. On top of that, the whole system can be compromised - at least temporarily - by just breaking one single card. As a consequence, and unlike most hobbyist computer hacking, pay-tv hacking is a serious matter. Attacks against smart cards is part of the landscape, and designing robust pay-tv and mobile-tv embedded S/W requires both expertise and carefulness.

5:30 - 6:00 pm Contactless diversity: Multiple Piccs problematic
Jean-Paul Caruana, Contactless Technology Center Manager
After a successfull penetration in the travel document market, the contactless technology is continuing
his growth throught the exciting e-Visa application. However, to be successfull, the technology definition is facing a major challenge : to garanti functionality even in case of multiple e-Visa presence in the same e-Passport. The presentation shown multiple e-Visas impact and introduce solutions.
