In addition to his responsibility as the President of the Smart Payment Association, Jerome Ajdenbaum is Marketing Director with Gemalto, in charge of global strategic alliances and mobile payment initiatives.
Before joining Gemalto, Jerome was the founder and managing director of Iteon, a specialist consultancyin smart cards working principally with bankers and telecom companies. Jerome's fields of expertise cover payment cards, mobile commerce, mobile telephony value-added services and innovation. Jerome holds master degrees in engineering and in Business Administration.

ERIC ALZAI
Inside Contacless

Eric Alzai, recently appointed Chief Technology Officer with Inside Contactless is a graduate of the Ecole Supérieure d’Ingénieurs in Electronics and Electrotechnique in Paris. He spent most of his career in the microprocessor and embedded software technology and has been involved in the smart card industry since 1988. He held various technical positions at Gemplus as the Technology Director for the Asia Pacific region based in Singapore and later as the Corporate Research and Development Director before finally joining Oberthur Card Systems as Chief Technology Officer in 2001.

ASAD M. ALI
Senior research Engineer - Gemalto Technology & innovation group

Asad M. Ali is a senior research engineer at Gemalto Technology & Innovation group and is currently working on next-generation smart card products. His research interests include smart card operating systems, application frameworks, network security protocols, and smart card usability. He is a co-inventor of Network Card technology that won Card Technology 2005 "Breakthrough Award for Innovation." He holds a Master's degree in Engineering from MIT.

Jonas Anderson, Vice President of Business Development at Precise Biometrics, has 10 years of experience from the smart card industry. Among his positions in the area are New Business Development Manager and later Business Segment Director at Schlumberger Cards. Since 2002, Mr. Andersson has headed Precise Biometrics' Match‐on‐Card initiatives for National ID Card programs and strategic partnerships with the major smart card companies and system integrators worldwide. Among the accomplishments are the wins of Thailand National ID Card, the world's largest Match‐on‐Card based smart ID card program, as well as Qatar and Portugal National ID card programs, and others still under NDA.
Jonas Andersson, born 1957, is a Swedish national, who has lived, studied and worked extensively abroad, and holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science.

TIM BAKER
Advanced Marketing Director for the NFC Business Line - INSIDE Contactless

His original qualifications were in pure mathematics (Manchester, UK) but he has now spent 25 years working in France mostly in the hi-tech industry in semiconductor actively spreading the word for several generations of new technologies (microprocessors, microcontrollers, real-time operating systems, ASIC's, Smart Cards and now NFC (Near Field Communications). Starting as a hardware and software engineer he has also worked in technical training, marketing communications, knowledge management and marketing. He has worked for ST, ATMEL, Gemplus, and MasterCard before joining INSIDE Contactless and has been a frequent speaker on innovative technologies on the international conference circuit.

CLAUDE BARRAL
Senior Research Engineer - Gemalto

Claude is in the Gemalto Research Labs since 1998 where he was involved in innovative projects such as ScreenCards, High Memory Capacity Cards and Biometrics. He is currently working on Smart Card integration in biometric systems and is member of the French national body (Afnor) for ISO standardization about Biometrics & Smart Cards. He earned his engineering degree in Electronics from the French "Conservatoire National des Arts & Metiers" and is preparing a PhD thesis in Cryptography & Security at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland).

Néda started her career for Schlumberger Oilfield in Embedded System, Signal Processing and Communication protocols within several Research and Development Centers in Europe & US. Her first experience in smartcard was at R&D "Cartes Division" Test & Terminals at SLB at time the first SIM toolkit start massive deployment.
Since end 2000, she joined Renesas Technology Europe (joint venture Hitachi / Mitsubishi) in the smartcard domain first as product marketing then in charge of Business Development for Secure Multimedia Card ("X-Mobile Card") and now as responsible of Telecom Market focus on High-End and Next generation UICC. She represents Renesas in different forum such as ETSI-SCP and Java Card Forum.

Working on corporate telebanking and cash management services since early nineties, Bent took a shift in his career around year 2000. With focus on business development within e-business and new services, mobile financial services evolved as his main field of responsibility within DnB NOR. Joining Mobey Forum in 2001, Bent became the main representative from DnB NOR in 2002. He has hold a seat at the Board of Directors in Mobey Forum since 2006. Bent has been involved in several bank-telcom cooperation activities in the Norwegian market since 2002. From 2004 to 2006 he managed Norwegian Banks' joint project on Mobile BankID, a SIM-based PKI solution for authentication and signing.

UGO BIADER CEIPIDOR

Director of CATTID (Centre for Application of Television and Distance Learning) of the same university, member of IASTED  (International Association of Science and Technology for Development). Director of the RFID Lab, a joint venture research center with economic and engineering departments of La Sapienza and of Genova University, as well as with EC JRC of Ispra and CNIPA of Italian Government. He started his academic career as Chemist, experiencing also the role of entrepreneur in Electronic, to end with Computer Science. His researches are concentrate on e-learning, simulation for "learning by doing "and networking software. Recently he is involved in m-learning by using RFID (Radio Frequency IDEntifier) also in various service fields. He also won an international price in economy and author of 100 papers.
He conjugates the figure of entrepreneur-manager with the one of academic and he has particular experiences of programming, planning and management in the following fields: Information and Communication technology, Radio Frequency Identification, Didactic and training, wbt, e-learning, Analytical Chemistry, Economy and Corporate structure.

CHARLES BROOKSON

Charles Brookson works in the Department of Trade and Industry and is a Professional Electronic Engineer. He previously was Head of Security for one2one (now T-Mobile UK), and worked within British Telecom for twenty years before. He has worked in many security areas over the last 30 years.
He has been Chairman on the GSM Association Security Group. He has been working the GSM and 3GPP security standards, first chairing the Algorithm Expert Group way back in 1986. He is Chairman of the NISSG, a group that was set up to co-ordinate security standards amongst the three European Security Standards Organisations and other bodies outside Europe. He is also Chairman of ETSI OCG Security, which is responsible for security within ETSI He is also on the Permanent Stakeholders group of ENISA, The European Network and Information Security Agency.

Dominique Brule is Director of Marketing for Services Solutions within the Emerging Business group of NXP Semiconductors (formally Philips Semiconductors)
Dominique has been with NXP since 2000; he has worked in the smart card industry focusing on smart card reader for Pay TV and banking applications. In 2003, he led the business development activities for NFC technology in the mobile phone industry, including helping to define the global strategy to ensure the technology needs align with market requirements.
In 2006, Dominique joined the Emerging Business Unit of NXP as Director of Marketing, leading the definition of Mifare4Mobile initiative. He is based in Sophia Antipolis, France.

During the last few years, she has been working with other partners on measuring performances of Java Card platforms. JACQUES BUS

Jacques Bus, born in the Netherlands in 1947, studied Mathematics at the University of Amsterdam and obtained his PhD with a thesis in Numerical Mathematics. He worked as a researcher at CWI (Amsterdam) for 15 years. In 1988 he joined the European Commission services in the Unit for Computer Integrated Manufacturing in the Esprit programme. Since then he has been responsible for programme wide operational and organisational affairs in the Esprit and IST programme and for Informatics support in DG Information Society. From June 2000 till March 2004 he was Head of the Unit Software Technologies and Distributed Systems in the IST programme, which included the coordination of activities on Open Source Software within the IST programme. Since early 2003 he has been active in the preparation of a European Security Research Programme addressing development of multidisciplinary, integrated solutions for the security of citizens. From March 2004 he has taken responsibilities for the unit ICT for Trust and Security in the IST Programme, which includes Research and technology Development for Network and Information System Security, Trustworthy Computing and DRM, Biometrics, Identity management and Critical Information Infrastructure Protection.

Mr Denis has been Security Product Manager for Oberthur Card Systems since 2002. Now specializing in Mobile TV, he previously worked on SIM-based WiFi and PKI authentication products. His initial experience in the R&D department was on the world first JavaCard SIM card.
Mr Denis graduated in 1995 from the French Institut National des Telecommunications (INT) and also holds a Diplôme d'Etude Approfondie (DEA) in automation from Paris XII University.

ZHIMIN DING
Chief Architect &ndash - Silicon Storage Technology

Zhimin Ding designed the architecture of several generations of smart card chips for Emosyn, which later merged with Silicon Storage Technology, Inc. Zhimin is currently working on a family of high capacity SIM architecture design based on SST's SuperFlash technology. Zhimin previously worked for Philips Semiconductors Inc (now NXP) and was responsible for the MX and XA architectures, both of which became important in the smartcard world.

Boris Dolgunov is serving as Chief Architect of SanDisk security group and has been specializing in security and cryptography for the last nine years. Mr. Dolgunov has been the author of many whitepapers, technical documents and patents on security and is an active member in leading organizations such as OMA, TCG, IEEE-1667 and additional standard bodies. Mr. Dolgunov holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Ben Gurion University in Israel.

After participation in several CC workshops for Eurosmart and Global Platform, is today the convenor of Eurosmart Product and System Security Working Group (PSSWG) and the chairs Information Security Certification Initiative (ISCI) Working Group 1: Methodology and Evaluation Criteria.

He has worked on side channel analysis such as power and electromagnetic attacks. He has also worked as a cryptographic algorithms developer and he has been in charge of several studies in mobile phone, banking and pay-TV environments.
His main interest is Side-Channel attacks, especially Fault Induction.

Stéphane started his career for Gemplus, Europe Middle East and Africa sales area in 1999. His first experience in smart card industry was in field marketing and pre sales activities to promote smart card solutions. In 2002 he joined GFI consulting, French consulting company, as Consultant taking responsibility for various missions for mobile operators, financial institutions and banks. He joined Oberthur Card Systems' Marketing team in September 2005 as Marketing Product Manager. He is in charge of a complete products range including strategic partnerships in the wireless industry. Taking care of advanced SIM-web-based solution, he also have the Chairman position of S@T working groups within SIM Alliance and is conference's speaker during various conferences and exhibitions in the industry.

Christian has wide experience in the banking sector and security industry as a whole and over the years, has introduced concepts of mainframe computers into smart cards.

He is one of the founders of Java Card™ technology and its SIM applications as a researcher and President of the Java Card Forum.Christian previously managed a subsidiary of Bull CP8 in the USA on the technical side (Visa, MasterCard, Microsoft, DoD, etc), as well as starting and managing a wealthy terminal activity and the creation of the formal method group in Bull CP8.

Christian stayed with Bull through the change to Schlumberger and then Axalto, and is now Head of Advanced Technology Strategy and Promotion at Gemalto.

He has a number of Patents, a large communication portfolio and has written a number of articles. He is also a prolific speaker on Java Card technology.

RODOLFO VELTRI GOMES

He graduated at ITA, Brazil 1986, and has convalidated his diploma at Università di Roma II Tor Vergata, in 1995. Since then, he was involved in the design and development  of different technology transceivers: ECM defense radar systems, broadcasting solid state systems, bluetooth, power line communication, as well as RF amplifiers used for Medical care, in Magnetic Resonance scanners.
He has been involved in design and test for microwave and RF blocks, actively participating and leading teams of young hardware engineers.
In Jan 2005, he joined NXP Semiconductors Sales office in Italy (former Philips Semiconductors), and since then he has been working for support and marketing promotion of whole product line of NFC & RFID systems, in different business directions: contactless secure payments, retail transactions and transportation.
He is leading engineer at NXP Italian team for StoLPan Project and coordinates activities of NFC demo creation in Europe besides Automatic Fare Collection business development for Mediterranean area.

LOUIS GOUBIN

Louis Goubin is a Professor at Versailles St-Quentin-en-Yvelines University and Cryptography & Security Consultant at Gemalto. A former student of the Ecole normale supérieure (Paris), he holds a PhD in Pure Mathematics from Paris XI University (1995) and an Habilitation to supervise research from Paris VII University (2003). He published more than 30 papers, about the design of new asymmetric cryptosystems, cryptanalysis of existing algorithms and protocols, and the protection of software implementations against physical attacks. He has also filled 15 patents on practical cryptology and smart cards.

His graduation thesis is about the new technology called Near Field Communication.
Keen on mobile and new technologies, he has cooperated with RFID Lab within CATTID ( Centre for Television Applications and Distance Learning Techniques ) since 2005.
It's already one year that he is making a stage in Oracle Italia. Through RFID Lab activities, he collaborates with European project "StoLPaN" (Store Logistics and Payment with NFC ), in the field of NFC technology.

Jean-Pierre Gressin received a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics at the University of Orsay and a Master of Science in Microelectronics and Telecommunications at the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (2000).
Jean-Pierre started his career in London where he worked in innovation in DRM, Multimedia and Signal Processing arenas for the Telecom Market. Owner, he created and commercialized a state-of-the-art Sound Recognition Technology designed to automatically transcribe polyphonic Music. He also worked as Consultant at Air France and Sagem Communication.
Jean-Pierre joined Oberthur Card Systems in 2005 as Marketing Product Manager for a range of services dedicated to Mobile Operators. He has created and managed the Partnerships activity for value added services and also acts as Product Manager for Phonebook backup solution. He often delivers speeches in VAS conferences worldwide and is an active member of the SIM Alliance working group on enhanced phonebook.

VINCENT GUERIN

Graduate Engineer in Computer Science at ENSEIRB; Bordeaux, France. He has worked for 6 years for smart card industry in software design and development. Its main works are in the field of the Java Card Virtual Machine and the Operating System. He has been involved in the Java Card Forum for 5 years; actively participating to the definition of the upcoming Java Card 3.0 platform. Last years, he collaborated to InspireD, a European funded project from the Framework Program #6 where it was responsible for the Operating System WorkPackage, dealing with the specification of the Trusted Personal Device OS and Virtual Machine.

Eduard Hambardzumyan was born in 1977, in Armenia. He received M.S. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Yerevan State University, Armenia, in 1999. He is currently a research engineer at Samsung Electronics, SoC R&D Center in South Korea. His research interests include all aspects of cryptographic hardware and security in embedded systems, true and pseudo random number generators.

WILLEM JONKER
Vice President - Philips Research

Willem Jonker (1962) studied mathematics and computer science at Groningen University. He then joined Delft University of Technology for his PhD research on knowledge-based systems. After receiving his PhD from the university of Utrecht he joined KPN Research to work on knowledge based systems, database systems, and distributed systems. In 1992 he joined the European Computer industry Research Center in Munich (ECRC, a joint research laboratory of Bull, ICL and Siemens) to work on intelligent and federated database systems. Late 1994 he returned to KPN Research to become the head of the database group and to work on applications of database technology in telecommunication systems and services. In 1999 he founded the new research department of KPN Research at the campus of Twente University. Till September 2001, he headed the department, focusing on IT infrastructures supporting multi-media content management services. In September 2001 he joined Philips Research. He started in the PACMan (Processing and Architectures for Content Management) group at Philips Research to work on secure content management in networked environments and to coordinate the cluster activities in this field. In April 2004 he became the department head of the Information & System Security group. In October 2005 he became the sector head of the Digital Lifestyle Technology sector. Finally, he is a part-time full professor of computer science at Twente University. Among his research interest are database systems, multi-media databases, distributed applications, content management, DRM, and security.

MICHEL LEMONIER
ICT programme director – AII (Agency for Industrial Innovation)

Michel Lemonier, engineering graduate and PhD in solid state physics, worked for 10 years at the Philips Research labs in France on image detection and photonics. He then spent the following ten years in charge of development and marketing activities for broadband telecommunications equipment and corporate networks at Philips and CS Telecom. In 2000, Philips appointed him site director and R&D manager for the newly created development centre located in Montrouge (France) for 3G/4G multimedia terminals. As this activity was discontinued in 2001, after Philips’ strategic move in mobile telephony, he left Philips and joined the L-up consulting agency, bringing his experience in product creation and project management to large companies and R&D consortia.

In November 2005, Michel was appointed ICT programme director at the Agency for Industrial Innovation (AII), a government organisation intended at promoting and funding large-scale innovative and cooperative R&D initiatives from industries and public labs.

YANN LOISEL
Chief Security Officer at Innova Card CSO - Innova Card

After his degree in Cryptography from University of Limoges, Yann LOISEL began his activities in the domain of cryptanalysis at the French DoD. After gaining position of Cryptanalysis Team Manager at DoD, he joined SCM Microsystems GmbH where he led security activities for secure readers and DVB decoders. He was involved in standardization bodies such as FINREAD and DVB for multimedia contents copy-protection and had filed 5 patents.   Yann LOISEL is now the Chief Security Officer at Innova Card, a fabless company providing secure solutions for trusted terminals. He is in charge of all security-related topics: physical protection, cryptography, applications security and certifications.

LAURENT MANTEAU

With almost 20 years experience in the Industry, he started to work in the 3M European Labs as a Product Engineer, then joined the European R&D center of the Océ group as Development Manager for digital printing technologies. Then, he moved to IER in 1995 as expert for travel documents for the Air Transport industry. He was then an active member of IATA and AIM working groups for auto-ID applications, barcode and RFID technologies. He joined Gemplus in 1998 as Marketing Manager for electronic tags (RFID) applications, moved to R&D Corporate Innovation in 2001 and took over the responsibility of Cooperative R&D Programs manager for Gemplus in year 2002. He is involved in European and Trans-national R&D projects for the Smart card industry for about 5 years and led from 2004 to 2006 the InspireD consortium as an integrated project within the European frame FP6.
He holds an Engineering degree in Polymer Chemistry & Electronics Materials from ENSCT (ENSIACET Toulouse) in 1987.

Carlo Maria Medaglia was born in Rome, Italy in 1974, he had her degree in physics at University of Rome " La Sapienza", Rome, Italy, in 1999. He has got his PhD in Remote Sensing at the Engineering faculty of University of Rome " La Sapienza", Rome, Italy in 2004. Since 1999 He is working at several international research institutions around the world as ISAC-CNR (Institute for Atmospheric Sciences and Climate),NASA (National Atmospheric and Space Administration), ESA (European Space Agency), NOA (National Observatory of Athens) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Admospheric Administration). He also worked as visiting professor in several universities as: University of Madison-Wisconsin, University of Baltimore, University of Washington. Now he is working as consultant in the RFID/Wireless Group of the CNIPA (National Center for Informatics in the Public Administration), as full professor of Human Computer Interaction at Mass Communication Department of University of Roma" La Sapienza" and as Coordinator of the RFID Lab of CATTID ( Centre for Television Applications and Distance Learning Techniques ) of University of Rome "La Sapienza". He He has more than 70 contribution in peer-reviewed journal and conference proceedings. His principle research activities are RFID, Geolocalization, satellite remote sensing and mobile/wireless communication.

The last fifteen years of Richard's career has been spend at the GM level in the Fabless space working for such companies including Kopin, Paradigm, and his own consulting company, OPS-CON which provided contract COO and VP Operations services to the Fabless space. Richard joined Emosyn prior to it's acquisition by SST as the Vice President of Operations and Quality in 2003 and has remained with SST through the acquisitionmanaging the Smart Card IC Business Line in the ASPG Business Unit.

Alice Moroni was born in Rome, Italy, in 1982. She had her degree in "Publishing and Multimedia Communication" at "Sapienza" University of Rome on April 2007. Her graduation thesis was about Mobile Payments towards Public Administration using Near Field Communication technology. She has been collaborating with RFID Lab of CATTID (Centre for Television Applications and Distance Learning Techniques) of "Sapienza" University of Rome since March 2006. In the Lab she deals with NFC technology and collaborates with the European project called "StoLPaN" (Store Logistics and Payments with NFC). She also collaborates with the audio-visual lab of the same Univeristy as film editor.

Omid F. Nadjarbashi was born in 1975 in Tehran/Iran. He's holding Bachelors' and Masters' degree on Computer Engineering (Hardware) from Sharif University of Technology (1997) and University of Tehran (2000) respectively. His research and study activities are mainly in the "Smart Cards", "IT Security", "Trusted Platforms" and "Embedded Systems". His honored R&D projects done, was the first domestic native "Smart Card Operating System" (2002), which was specialized for the GSM purpose and followed by its native "SIM Application Toolkit" patch (2004). Both projects were developed by his team. He is now managing a start-up leading research company in smart card firmware and software technologies, named "Kasra Card Co." located in Iran.

Cedric Nicolas, 41, computer engineer, is now Handsets and SIM Card Development Director for Bouygues Telecom, the 3rd mobile operator in France. He's in charge of design, development, validation of i-mode/WAP/Corporate handsets. He's also the main technical contact into i-mode alliance of operators that includes NTT Docomo, Telefonica, O2, KPN, among others. He was hired in Bouygues Telecom for participating to the launch of i-mode service in France, due to his past experience in Internet related companies, as a technical director of Internet and Mobile internet related companies. He has collected there a deep expertise on Java and Internet technologies. He has wrote four books on the Java language (first book on Java in French language in 1996) and the first on i-mode in French language in 2002).

Ozlem Ozturk is the Director of Product Marketing and Business Development in Spansion's Consumer, Smart Card and Industrial Division. In this capacity, she is responsible for managing all aspects of strategy, product marketing, partnership and worldwide business development for the emerging high density smart card business at Spansion.

Ozlem has a diverse background in technology marketing, sales and engineering. Prior to Spansion, Ozlem held various corporate development, marketing and sales positions at Hewlett-Packard, Unisys and Vidiator Technologies. At Hewlett-Packard, she worked within the Telecommunications Business Unit and led strategy, development and marketing efforts for HP's emerging technology solutions offerings for the telecom and media companies worldwide. In addition to her telecommunications experience, she held worldwide product and solutions marketing positions, launching new businesses in the areas of E-Commerce, internet/interoperability technologies and digital content delivery. Ozlem started her career as an operating system engineer at Unisys.

Ozlem holds a BS degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Bogazici University, an MS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from University of Maine.

Emmanuel Prouff has obtained a PhD at the french national research institute for computer science (INRIA) and has a master degree in mathematics. He has been university lecturer in Computer Science at the university of Orsay (Paris XI) and at the engineering school of Bourges. Currently working for Oberthur Card Systems, he is a research engineer in the crypto & security group. Emmanuel Prouff studies theoretical aspects of symmetric cryptology and the different ways of thwarting side channel attacks. His results in those areas were published at international conferences.

ANDY PURDY
Former Acting Director, Department of Homeland Security - National Cyber-Security Division

Earlier this year Andy Purdy formed DRA Enterprises, Inc., specializing in information assurance, cyber security, software assurance, business ,development, and government relations. Andy conducts independent consulting work focusing on business strategy, business development, and technology
ventures. In addition, Andy currently serves as a Special Government Employee on the Defense Science Board Task Force on Software Assurance. Andy is a member of the Executive Advisory Board of BigFix, Inc.

Andy served as the nation's "cyber security czar" for the two years in his role as Acting Director of the National Cyber Security Division/US-CERT of the Department of Homeland Security. Andy served for three and a half years at DHS beginning with his role in the set up and launch of the NCSD beginning
in April 2003 after he moved to DHS from the White House staff. After leaving DHS is October of 2006, Andy served as a Visiting Scientist at the Software Engineering Institute of Carnegie Mellon, working on the Resiliency Engineering Framework with the Financial Services Technology Consortium.
Prior to beginning his work in support of DHS, Andy served as a member of the White House staff as Deputy to Howard Schmidt, the Vice Chair of the President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board (PCIPB), where he helped to draft the National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace. Previously, at the
United States Sentencing Commission Andy served as Acting General Counsel from November 1999 to January 2001 and was Chief Deputy General Counsel from 1989 until that time.

Andy served as a Federal prosecutor in Philadelphia, Special Counsel to the House Ethics Committee, Counsel to the Senate Impeachment Trial Committee, and Assistant Attorney General in Missouri. He also worked as Senior Staff Counsel to the House Select Committee on Assassinations' investigation of the assassination of President Kennedy. Andy served for five years in network news in Washington at NBC and CBS News.

Andy is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia Law School, and is a member of the bar in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Missouri, and Pennsylvania.

Michel Riguidel is the Head of the Department of Computer Science and Networks, at ENST (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications) in Paris, where he lectures in security and advanced networks.
In the IST Integrated Project of FP6, he is Key Researcher of the Secoqc Integrated Project ( Development of a Global Network for Secure Communication based on Quantum Cryptography) . He also contributes to Deserec, Challengers, he is in the Advisory Board of the Coordinated Action SecurIST.
In the FET of the FP6, he was the Security & Dependability Task Group Leader of the Beyond the Horizon Project.
In Italy, he is scientific member of the international Think tank on telecommunications ThinkTel.

Carsten Rust received his degree in Computer Science from the University of Paderborn, Germany, in 1996. Until 2004, he held a research position at a joint research lab operated by the University of Paderborn and Siemens, where he worked on the design of embedded real-time systems. In August 2004, he joined ORGA Kartensysteme (which became Sagem Orga in 2005) as a project manager for R&D projects. DAMIEN SAUVERON
Permanent Assistant Professor, XLIM, UMR CNRS 6172 - University of Limoges

Damien Sauveron worked during three years for the ITSEF of SERMA Technologies on the Java Card security. During his thesis that he carried out in the Distributed Systems and Objects team of the LaBRI he was one of the main developers of a Java Card emulator, he introduced the concept of pre-persistance in Java Card and he highlighted a new category of attacks on the open multiapplication smart cards. From 01/02/2006 to 31/03/2006, he was an invited researcher at the ISG-SCC (Information Security Group - Smart Card Centre) of the Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL). Then, from the 01/04/2006 to 10/08/2006 he was in a postdoctoral position at the ISG-SCC of the RHUL. Damien Sauveron is member of the IFIP WG 8.8 Smart Cards and member of the IFIP WG 11.2 Small System Security. He is also registered as Expert for the EU FP6 and for the french ANR (National Agency for the Research).

Lars Schnake studied electrical engineering at the University of Applied Science in Lippe and received his diploma in 2001. A former student of ENS, Jacques Stern has received a PhD from the University Paris 7 in 1975. Jacques Stern is an expert in cryptology. He is the author of over a hundred publications in scientific journals, focussing on all aspects of this research area, and of a book entitled « The Science of Secrecy » (O. Jacob, editor). He is the inventor of a dozen patents. His main research has been devoted to the cryptanalysis and provable security of public key cryptosystems, as well as to the design of cryptographic algorithms suitable to environments where computing resources are limited.
Jacques Stern has been a member of numerous editorial and scientific committees, and the chair of those of ACM CCS (Communications and Computer Security) in 1996, and Eurocrypt in 1999. He has also been an invited speaker in many conferences, notably Asiacrypt 1996 and Eurocrypt 2003 and has delivered the « IACR distinguished lecture» at EUROCRYPT 2007. He was awarded the « prix Lazare Carnot » by the French Academy of Sciences in 2003, the CNRS Silver Medal in 2005, the CNRS Gold Medal in 2006, and the RSA award for excellence in mathematics in 2007.

Jacques Stern has regularly served as a consultant on cryptology for various companies and organizations. He is a former member of the French Scientific Defense Council, and a member of the Strategic Council for IT, and the Observatory on the Security of Credit Cards.

One of its "bébés", The RoadRunners, a Bluetooth RFID barcode reader- was finalist at CES 2006 (Consumer Electronic Show) - section Innovation as best Bluetooth product of the year.
Lorenzo is now at the head of Product Marketing in Oberthur Card Systems managing all innovative products in the GSM division. He is today one of the worldwide experts on contactless and mobile contactless.

Hugues Thiebeauld has been working in SmartCard industry for six years.
He started as Javacard API developer at Oberthur Card System six years ago, before moving to the security group to work on fault attacks. After an experience in the CESTI of Thales, he came back to Oberthur Card System to be in charge of security evaluation of OCS's products.
His current interests are Side-Channel and Fault attacks, security in native and JavaCard products.

Pascal Urien is full professor at the GET - ENST - Sup Télécom Paris.

He graduated from Ecole Centrale de Lyon, and received a PHD in computer science.

He worked in CNET de Lannion, Thomson LCR (Laboratoire Central de Recherches), CGCT (Compagnie Générale des Constructions Téléphoniques), MET (Matra Ericsson Telecomunication), BULL SA, BULL CP8, SCHLUMBERGER, SCHLUMBERGER-SEMA.

He taught in CNAM (Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers), university of Marne la Vallée, and was half-time professor in the university of Paris Dauphine.

His main research interests include security and smart cards, especially for wireless networks and distributed computing architectures.

He holds twelve patents and about one hundred publications in these domains.

He is the father of the internet smart card technology, which won two industrial awards, Best Technological Innovation at cartes'2000 (Paris) and Most Innovative Product of Year at the Advanced Card Award 2001 (London).

He invented the EAP smart card, that won two industrial awards, Best Technological Innovation at cartes'2003 (Paris), and Breakthrough Innovation Award at CardtTech/SecureTech 2004 (Washington DC).

In 2006 he won a bronze award at the SecureTheWeb Developer Contest, organized by Gemalto and Microsoft.

In June 2007 Pascal was one of the winners of French 9th national contest, for the support of innovative start-ups ("9e concours national d'aide à la création d'entreprises de technologies innovantes").

Pascal collaborates in several industrial committees like the IETF, the Javacard Forum, and the WLAN smartcard consortium.

He participated in various French and European research projects, such as MMQoS, EPIS, RESODO, INSPIRED, T2TIT, ESTER.

Philippe Vallée has been Executive Vice-President, Telecom of Gemalto since June 2006.
He was previouslyChief Technology Officer of Gemplus, supervising the Product and Marketing Center. Prior to this, he was President of the Telecom Business Unit and has also worked in Singapore as Executive Vice-President of Gemplus Technologies Asia.
Mr. Vallée has more than 18 years of experience in the Telecom industry and has worked with Gemplus in various marketing, product management and sales capacities. Before joining Gemplus, M. Vallée started his career with Matra Communication (now Lagardère Group) in France as a product manager on the first generation of GSM mobile phones.

Eric Vetillard is the CTO of Trusted Labs, a spin-off from Trusted Logic that provides security-related services. He is in particular responsible for the security evaluation of embedded Java platforms and applications (Java Card, J2ME).
Before that, he has been Chief Architect at Trusted Logic, and Java Architect at Gemplus. He has been an active member of the Java Card Forum since its inception in 1997, and he has contributed to all Java Card specifications. Eric chairs the Java Card Forum's Technical Committee since the end of 2006.
Eric Vetillard is a regular speaker at JavaOne, eSmart, and other technical conferences. He holds a M.S. from Florida State University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Marseille.

David Wright is Managing Partner of Trilateral Research & Consulting LLP, based in London, which specialises in ambient intelligence, risk communication and security policy issues. He initiated the consortia and wrote much of the proposals for two successful projects under the EC's Sixth Framework Programme, namely SWAMI (Safeguards in a World of Ambient Intelligence) and STARC (Stakeholders and Risk Communication). Prior to those projects, he researched and wrote reports on organisational scenarios and the civil protection sector under the EC's GMES programme and on public-private partnerships and dual-use technologies under the Galileo satnav programme.
