Products & Systems Security seems to be an endless challenge for the Industry and for those who deploy and use secure technologies such as smart cards. During the two sub-sessions we will cover the following issues:
Are there methodologies that could help testing and increasing the lifespan of secure technologies? Are new scenarios of attacks proliferating at the same speed of countermeasures? What's new there? Are these, real threats or scientist's wild imaginings? What is the answer from the Technology side? How Issuers and Consumers can trust secure products and systems security?

Device Interoperability, Security and Intelligence: Present and future perspective on Trusted Devices

In this session a large scope of concern for the present and future will be surveyed. Starting from the present, the EMV deployment on payment terminals is still a big breakthrough in term of trans-national interoperability. For the immediate future, with GPD/STIP 2.2 specifications from GlobalPlatform published this year, the path of a greater interoperability beyond the world of payment terminals is now well clarified and gains a wider geographical and industrial support. Also, and complementarily, for the future, a very interesting research/trend is the coming in the world of intelligent and secure devices of a new generation of enhanced smart cards possibly supporting JavaCard 3.0 and STIP virtual platforms and high-speed communication and mass storage capabilities.
