The Open Mobile Team Platform published several recommendation papers recently. The “OMTP TR1” marks an important step in handset security requirements.
“The embedded security of handsets is under constant attack from hackers and this will steadily increase. Establishing trust in a Terminal that is delivered to the mass market is a difficult but critical task for future mobile services” warns OMTP, a mobile industry’s device requirements body gathering AT&T, Hutchison 3G, Orange, SK Telecom, Telecom Italia, Telefonica, Telenor, T-Mobile and Vodafone. OMTP addresses these issues in its recommendation paper entitled “OMTP Advanced Trusted Environment: OMTP TR1”. In this extended version of the “Basic Trusted Environment: OMTP TR0” document, the handset security recommendations further facilitate the development and deployment of secure services. Areas covered include asset storage, trusted execution, secure interaction with UICC and generic bootstrapping.
