8 February 2008 - News
After several contactless trials in Asia, Gemalto is set to provide a “comprehensive” NFC SIM-based mobile contactless system to Taiwan Mobile.
The “digital security solutions” provider Gemalto claims this is the world’s first comprehensive NFC mobile contactless management solution. The service includes a card and application management system, a key management system, a module to deploy the user interface application both on the NFC SIM and the handset. Gemalto also takes care of maintenance and support. This solution will allow Taiwan Mobile, Taiwan’s telecommunication service provider, to register, issue, manage and terminate mobile NFC services over-the-air (OTA). Any type of contactless service within a mobile phone environment, especially payment applications that mandate high security levels, can be managed. The service will be commercially rolled out nation-wide during 2008, and is supposed to complete previous commercial launches for contactless payment and transport.
