The new MicroPass contactless payment card microprocessor 4003 is ready for deployment in Visa payWave and MasterCard PayPass systems.
The semiconductor company dedicated to contactless chip platforms announced on March 10 the launch of its MicroPass 4000 contactless microprocessor family. Inside Contactless developed theses products to offer an “unprecedented price/performance and low-power operation (…) to move beyond payments to a broad range of high-convenience mass-market applications, including transit fare systems, access control, loyalty programs, as well as a host of lightweight identification applications.”

The new product has already received approval from two key m-banking players: Visa and MasterCard. The former certified that MicroPass intelligent payment platforms supports the global interoperability of Visa payWave contactless system. The latter gave a similar approval for its MasterCard PayPass systems, besides adding a significant new security enhancements. CPI Card Group, a plastic card manufactured, has started producing PayPass cards using the new MicroPass 4003 intelligent payment platform.
